Our Investment Performance (IP) Solution

Ortec Finance develops and hosts applications for pension funds, asset managers, banks, housing associations and municipalities to help them in financial decision-making. We sell and support these solutions around the globe. Within Ortec Finance, the Investment Performance (IP) solution is centered around the development, implementation, and support of our PEARL software product. Our solution enables our clients to analyze and report on the performance of investment portfolios

What will you do as a Data Engineer

As Data Engineer you will play a crucial role in translating functional investment reporting requirements into scalable technical solutions by designing data models, flows, and algorithms.

Your daily work will include among others:

• Coordinate and develop features and user stories.
• Contribute to technical QA topics such as unit testing and performance tuning.
• Contribute to the technical refinement of features and stories, by translating functional requirements into a technical implementation strategy:
  • Translate reporting wishes to changes in calculations and algorithms.
  • Design data models, e.g. for new configuration parameters and output data structures.
  • Design data flows through the application.
• Participate in estimation and planning sessions.
• Provide third-line support to our Client Servicing Teams.

Introducing: your team!

The Database Engineering Team currently consists of six experienced colleagues: engineers and a test analyst. The team works on the development and maintenance of the PEARL database and the calculation engine that runs on it. The team works closely with other Engineering teams (front and backend web development, business support) on system-wide features and deployment related tasks. For example, we recently revised the calculations in the PEARL system that serve the reports about the Currency Overlay strategies. We work based on Agile development principles.

• You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or another technical or exact field.
• You have experience with writing, debugging and testing SQL statements and algorithms. Having knowledge about another major programming language is an advantage.
• You have a passion for data and databases.
• You are familiar with Agile software development processes (e.g. scrum) and version control / testing / deployment tooling (e.g. Git, JIRA, Jenkins, MS Azure DevOps).
• Proven experience with quantitative analysis and mathematical programming, preferably within fintech, is considered a strong advantage.
• You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
