What will you do as a Python Software Developer?

At Ortec Finance, we help financial institutions make better investment and risk decisions through advanced models and technology. Our Economic Scenario Generator is one of our core solutions - a sophisticated simulation framework that produces consistent, data-driven projections of economic and financial variables. These scenarios support our clients in strategic decision-making, risk management, and long-term financial planning.

Why do we need a Software Developer Python?

The Scenario Analysis & Valuation (SAV) department at Ortec Finance is accelerating its innovation roadmap by developing the next generation of our Economic Scenario Generator - in Python! To help and enable the team responsible, we are looking for a Software Developer who can elevate our technical capabilities: someone who excels in production-grade software development, cloud-native architecture, and modern software engineering practices. The team collaborates closely with quantitative financial analysts, to translate complex mathematical models into robust, flexible, production-grade software. As Software Developer, you play a key role in building scalable, reliable, and high-quality systems that are both mathematically robust and technically excellent.

The Quant Development team currently consists of 4 enthusiastic and highly educated professionals with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. The salary range is € 70k - € 83k on yearly basis (including variable pay, 13th month, holiday allowance) for a 40-hour workweek, depending on your role, competency profile and experience.

Who are you?

As a Software Developer, you are a team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills. You enjoy mentoring others in professional software development practices; growing a development team excites and motivates you! You have a sound understanding of mathematics and data science, and you are familiar with cloud platforms (such as Azure), and modern DevOps practices. And of course, you recognize yourself in our core values.

In addition, the following aspects are important:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

• 3-5 years of professional software development experience

• Strong proficiency in Python and its ecosystem (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy), being flexible to switch between paradigms and opinionated about them

• Strong proficiency in data processing

• Affinity or experience in quantitative finance, econometrics, or stochastic modeling is a strong plus

• This position is open to candidates who already have the right to work in the Netherlands.
