What will you do as a Business Consultant Insurance Strategy?
As a Business Consultant, you contribute to a variety of activities within projects in the field of financial risk management for large and medium-sized insurance companies and asset managers. Financial risk management extensively covers advice assignments in the field of Asset Liability Management (ALM), Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA), investment advice and risk monitoring. You will be part of the team which is responsible for various insurance customers and projects. With support of our models and analysis, you help them to find out what impact policy decisions have on their (financial) position; not only now, but also in the future.
What could your work week look like? Well, for example, on Monday you could be supporting one of our international clients with questions around their portfolio optimization using Machine Learning techniques, translating model outcomes into clear insights and discussing the impact together. On Tuesday, you start your day with coffee on the 15th floor of our Rotterdam office, overlooking the Maas, before joining a team meeting on how to best support clients with their ORSA (Own Risk and Solvency Assessment) and monitoring processes. Later that day, you could be on a client call to walk through results and next steps. On Wednesday, you work together with colleagues on a pitch for a potential new client, combining your analytical insights with a clear storyline to demonstrate how we can support them in their decision-making. This could involve preparing analyses, shaping the proposal, and rehearsing for the client's presentation. On Thursday, you collaborate with a team member on an article about topics such as inflation and liquidity risks for insurers, translating complex themes into practical insights. Finally, on Friday, you work closely with our developers to discuss new model features, ensuring they align with client needs, before joining the biweekly companywide ‘Friday Live’ meeting to wrap up the week.
Introducing: Your Team!
You will be part of our Insurance Strategy team. This team is based in our Rotterdam, London and Singapore office. You are working for our office in Rotterdam, but you are also visiting our clients. The activities will also be aimed at insurers abroad, including Asia and UK. This team is dedicated to enabling our clients in the insurance and asset management sector to manage the complexity of investment decision making and enhance enterprise risk management. We design, build, and apply solutions for (dynamic) risk management, such as ALM analyses, ORSA calculations and the valuation of embedded options. We do this for all types of insurance companies – e.g. life, non-life, health and composite insurers – with a global perspective. This gives you the opportunity to dive into the different dynamics of investments and insurance regulatory frameworks from all over the world.

The salary range is between 50.000 and 55.000 EUR on yearly basis (including variable pay, 13th month and holiday allowance), dependent on your role, competency profile and experience. You have a master’s degree in a quantitative study with economic aspects, for example Business Economics with an emphasis on Financing and Investment, Econometrics, Actuarial Sciences or Quantitative Economics
You have interest in the field of investment and risk management issues for insurers.
